Tutor - Aviara Reading Friends
Volunteers will help 1st and 2nd grade students develop fluency and a love of reading. Reading Friends work with each of "their" four students for 15 minutes, with a total weekly commitment of 1 1/2 hours. A three-hour training session will be provided by a literacy specialist. The first training session will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 8:30 - 11:30 (location TBD). The tutoring program will run from mid-September 2011 through April 2012 at Aviara Oaks Elementary School in Carlsbad. |

Teens who enjoy working with children are needed to assist the camp director with various day camp activities. The volunteers accompany children on field trips and supervise and/or implement sports and games.
Candidates must be from 13 to 18 years old and able to commit to 25-30 hours per week for a 1-2 week period.
A background check (finger prints) and a TB test are required.
This opportunity is an excellent way to accumulate community service hours and gain summer camping skills.
Training will be provided on June 10, 2006, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
