Survey Conducter

Do you enjoy talking to the public and ensuring every visit to Fort Edmonton Park is better and better? The Survey Conductor is responsible for the set-up, take-down, and implementation of Special Event Visitor Surveys. These surveys will be used to gage visitor satisfaction at special events. Role is to request feedback regarding visitor experience at the Park and share the benefits of being a Fort Edmonton Pass holder.

Qualifications: Knowledge of the facility is an asset. Friendly and energetic with excellent customer service skills. You must be comfortable working with the public and approaching visitors for feedback about their experience. Requirements: Must be 18 years or older Must have completed Police Check Must have attended a New Volunteer Orientation Session Must be energetic and enjoy interacting with the general public Comfortable working with minimal supervision

Train Station Greeters

Welcome Guests to the Park as they gather in the front line up. Help to direct guests in to the correct line ups (e.g. Passholders, Advanced Tickets, etc.). Distribute event handout to visitors, explain the details related the event activities. Provide directions to amenities (Ex. Washroom, Bank Machines, etc.) Qualifications: Knowledge of the facility is an asset. Friendly and energetic with excellent customer service skills. Operations

Artifacts Collection Attendant

The Artifact Collections Attendant (ACA) will assist with looking after the extensive artifact collection on display at Fort Edmonton Park and/or the collection at the Artifact Center.

Responsibilities:

Following the direction of the curatorial team, the ACA will assist with: monitoring displays, developing program pieces for the Discovery Rooms, cleaning and some light maintenance, and assigned duties according to volunteer’s expertise.

 

Training & Supervision:

The curatorial team will provide supervision and the direction required to complete the assigned duties, however the volunteer is expected to posses the skills required to complete many of the unique tasks. The volunteer must attend a New Volunteer Orientation. Optional to the volunteer will be the volunteer sessions provided by Public Programming at Fort Edmonton Park, era manuals and other additional resources.

 

Requirements:

-Volunteers must be 18 years or older

-Possession of an applicable historic skill (i.e. historic clock keeping, textile conservation, furniture restoration, etc)

-Experience working with and caring for artifacts

-Ability to work independently

-Ability to follow direction and be open to feedback from staff

-Ability to be approachable to questions from guests and provide interpretation on occasion

-Comfortable getting dirty and working in a rustic environment

-Experience in a museum setting is an asset

-Regular telephone or email contact with the artifact team is required.

 

Health & Safety: Volunteers must dress appropriately and wear appropriate footwear.

Heritage Garden Volunteer

Are you a passionate gardener interested in sharing your skills, meeting new people and connecting to Edmonton’s rich history through nature? Cultivate your passion as a Heritage Garden Volunteer at Fort Edmonton Park.

Fort Edmonton Park boasts 158 Acres of beautiful parkland  with gardens representing our diverse heritage in four distinct eras. The gardens are historically accurate and include the Fort garden, which is representative of the period between 1795 and 1846, as well as kitchen, medicinal, herb and ornamental gardens throughout 1885 Street, 1905 Street and 1920 Street. Plans are in the works to add a Native Plants Garden, as well as numerous special projects.

Horticultural experience/education required; Must have ability to lift/haul heavy items, kneel for long periods, dig and perform other physical tasks as required.
