Shift  time:

Saturday 19th – 11am-6pm

Sunday 20th Shift one – 9:30am – 4:30pm

Sunday 20th Shift two – 1:30pm – 8:30pm

Role description:

The Bar team will help manage the onsite bar and cooperate hospitality tents. The team is responsible for serving refreshments and helping to provide a festive and exciting event atmosphere for volunteers and participants.

Role Requirements:

  •        A current RSA certificate
  •        A proactive approach to serving riders
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to work within a team environment
  •        Money and cash register handling experience

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the area is set up at the commencement of the day
  • Serve patrons beer, wine by the bottle and glass, pre-mixed spirits, soft-drinks, and snacks to those over 18 years of age.
  • Ensure the bar area and tables remain clean and clear of empty bottles and glass
  • Operate the cash register for any cash sales
  • Assist in packing up the Bar area at the completion of the day
  • Communicate impacts or complaints with Team Leader and event management so that they can be resolved
  • Checking wristbands of riders who are entering the corporate VIP area
  • Assist with serving food and beverages in the corporate VIP area

Weather Exposure:

  • Low –The team is working undercover in marquees. However it will be on the event site so make sure you wear appropriate gear for the day.

Role description:

Rest Area attendants are responsible for ensuring riders are able to have a break from the ride. The team is responsible for setting up the area as per the site plans and providing assistance to riders.

All rest areas will have water available and some rest areas will be providing snacks. 

Role Requirements:

  •        A proactive approach to assisting riders
  •        Assertive nature but always maintaining great customer service
  •        Comfortable standing for long periods
  •        Willingness to go above  and beyond to help riders
  •        Self-sufficient with correct clothing – Make sure you are prepared for unpredictable weather
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to think clearly, act responsibly under all conditions and respond quickly to changing situations

Key responsibilities:

  •        You will be interacting with riders and other volunteers  
  •        Any serious problems or concerns should be referred to your team leader
  •        Setting up and packing down the site as per the site plan.
  •        Volunteers should come prepared for all weather elements (i.e. dress in layers, bring waterproof clothing and sunscreen)
  •        Positions may require you to be on your feet for long periods at a time therefore comfortable closed toe footwear is essential.
  •        A safety vest will be issued to you and needs to be returned at the end of the event.
  •        A detailed map of your position will be emailed to you prior to the event

Weather Exposure:

  • High – Marshals will be often placed in exposed areas, so sun and rain protection  and proper hydration is important

Duties location:

Role description:

Route marshals are responsible for ensuring riders are heading in the correct direction, providing assistance to those who may be struggling and notifying the Route Manager of any issues on the course.

 

Route marshals are an integral part of the traffic management plan. Route marshals will be responsible for directing cyclists and where possible (and safe) assisting spectators and pedestrians about the event. It is also a fun position to be out on course interacting with the riders and cheering them on along the way.

Role Requirements:

  •        A proactive approach to assisting riders
  •        Assertive nature but always maintaining great customer service
  •        Comfortable standing for long periods
  •        Willingness to go above  and beyond to help riders
  •        Self-sufficient with correct clothing – Make sure you are prepared for unpredictable weather
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to think clearly, act responsibly under all conditions and respond quickly to changing situations

Key responsibilities:

  •        You will be interacting with riders and other volunteers

Role description:

The Motorcycle Marshalls assist the route operations team by completing visual sweeps of the route and reporting any issues immediately. They are also required to respond to any accidents or issues on the ride in a safe and effective manner.

Role Requirements:

  •        A proactive approach to assisting riders
  •        First-Aid certificate level 2 required
  •        Current Victorian motorcycle license (and motorbike)
  •        Willingness to go above and beyond to help riders
  •        Self-sufficient with correct clothing – Make sure you are prepared for unpredictable weather
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to think clearly, act responsibly under all conditions and respond quickly to changing situations

Key responsibilities:

  •        Alert riders to any hazards, or clear any potential hazards, that may be on the route
  •        Provide immediate response to rider accidents on route
  •        Ensure riders receive first aid assistance in the event of an accident
  •        Via 2 way radio, regularly report both rider and route conditions to the Route Control, inclusive of issues or potential issues
  •        Deal with incidents professionally and resolve problems effectively
  •        Complete Incident Reports when necessary

Route Communications

Report to:

Route Operations Team Leader

Duties location:

Level 4, 246 Bourke Street (Bicycle Network Offices)

Event Date:

Shift time:

Shift 1: 4:30am – 12:30pm

Shift 2: 11:30am – 8:00pm

Role description:

Route control is the communications hub of the event.  This is a crucial role to ensure the route is safe at all times and that riders are maintaining a safe riding pattern whilst on route.  Route Control Assistants monitor all 2way radio communications and escalating issues as required.

Role Requirements:

  •        Experience using radio communications an advantage
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to think clearly, act responsibly under all conditions and respond quickly to changing situations

Key responsibilities:

  •        Scribe all incoming and outgoing two way radio and phone communications
  •        Monitoring of two way radio communications.
  •        Responsible for the correlation and communication of logged information to relevant key stakeholders (i.e. VicRoads, Police, Red Cross, Ambulance)
  •        Supporting the Route Operations Team Leader and other Route communications operators
  •        Escalating any issues or potential issues to the responsible Team Leader
  •        General trouble shooting

SAG (Support And Gear) Vehicle team

Route Marshals Team

Report to:

Role description:

In this position you will co-drive a SAG Vehicle (12 Seater bus with trailer attached) offering assistance to riders who are unable to continue the ride. You will be responsible for patrolling a section of the course and assisting riders with their bikes onto the vehicle.

 

You will be required to use a radio and will be in constant communication through with other SAGs and rest stops.

Role Requirements:

  •        A proactive approach to assisting riders
  •        Current Full Victorian Drivers Licence
  •        Assertive nature but always maintaining great customer service
  •        Comfortable driving a 12 seater bus with trailer attached
  •        Willingness to go above and beyond to help riders
  •        Self-sufficient with correct clothing – Make sure you are prepared for unpredictable weather
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to think clearly, act responsibly under all conditions and respond quickly to changing situations
  •        Ability to collect vehicle and attend role briefing the day before the event (Saturday 18th October)

Key responsibilities:

  •        You will be interacting with riders and other volunteers 
  •        Any serious problems or concerns should be referred to your team leader
  •        Volunteers should come prepared for all weather elements (i.e. dress in layers, bring waterproof clothing and sunscreen)
  •        Driving the route and picking up any riders who are unable to continue and dropping them off at the nearest rest area.
  •        A safety vest and radio will be issued to you and needs to be returned at the end of the event.
  •        Communicate your location and any issues with Route Control
  •        Keeping a logbook of any riders who have been collected

Weather Exposure:

  • High –SAG team will be outside of the vehicle for short periods on occasion, so make sure you wear appropriate gear for the day.

WARBY Team

What we do

WARBY stands for ‘we are right behind you’, and that sums up exactly what we do! We ride along the rider route and provide emotional, medical and mechanical support to all riders. It’s the best way to experience the riders’ journey first hand!

Key event tasks

  • Assist in ensuring riders are prepared when departing the morning site
  • Provide emotional, mechanical and medical support along the route as necessary
  • Offer advice on riding technique where appropriate

Requirements and Commitments

  • Ability to follow directions from the team leader
  • Ability to ride the rider route 
  • Your own bike with panniers or a rack-top bag to carry equipment
  • A proactive approach to assisting riders
  • Knowledge of basic bike mechanics (e.g. how to change a tyre, etc.)
  • Great customer service, with an ability to engage and motivate riders
  • First Aid Certificate and skills desirable
  • Comfortable volunteering up to 8 hours
  • Agree to attend a pre event training session

Sorrento Ferry Site – The Esplanade Sorrento

Sunday 19th – 6:30am – 2:00pm

Role description:

The Sorrento site team is responsible for making sure the site is set up the day prior to the event as well as its smooth operation on the day. The team is responsible for handing out lunches, Marshalling riders into the site and assisting riders on the ferry’s. We also want to make sure the riders are entering a welcoming and friendly atmosphere!

Role Requirements:

  •        A proactive approach to assisting riders
  •        Willingness to go above and beyond to help riders
  •        Self-sufficient with correct clothing – Make sure you are prepared for unpredictable weather
  •        Excellent communication & customer service skills
  •        Ability to work in a busy environment
  •        Ability to think clearly, act responsibly under all conditions and respond quickly to changing situations

Key responsibilities:

  •        Providing riders with a ticket to use the ferry
  •        Keeping the site clean and tidy
  •        Helping to hand out snacks and lunch to riders
  •        Marshalling riders in and out of the site as well as onto the ferry
  •        Making sure the site is set up and ready to go and assist with pack down at the end of the day
  •        Making sure riders enter the Site correctly
