    Help staff with building cleaning and maintenance as directed.

  • Kitchen Assistant

    Help prepare food and site for breakfast and lunches Monday through Friday, cleanup for same.  Special dinners prep and cleanup as needed.

  • League of Mercy

    Group that travels to local Care Centers to visit residents and provide gifts at holidays

    Assemble Sandwiches on Friday afternoon for Saturday delivery

    Working on Linn County Lot across from Corps office to create, plant, maintain and harvest community garden plot.

  • Women's Ministries

    In any corps there may be all or some of the following groups which are known collectively as Women's Ministries.

    A Fourfold group is typically the Home League program, but may operate under another name.  A fourfold group meets weekly for a minimum of 44 weeks a year and has a balanced program of worship, service, and education.

    Focus groups are formed in response to specific needs or interests.

    Outreach groups are intended as short-term groups or initiatives to reach women and do not maintain memberships.  An outreach group may evolve into a focus group.

  • Youth Basketball Scorekeeper

    Volunteer to keep score for Youth Basketball games.

  • Youth Church Services

    The Army's youth programs seek to expose kids to cultural, educational, recreational, emotional and social growth opportunities.

Easter Dinner 2015

The Salvation Army will hold its annual Easter dinner on April 1st 2015, the Wednesday before Easter. Dinner will be served in the gymnasium of our building, located at 1000 C Ave. NW Cedar Rapids, IA 52405. 

We're looking for 20 volunteers to serve as "waiters" for the community meal. Duties will include bringing food to the diners, filling drinks, and clean-up after the event.

Volunteers will be needed from 10:45am-1:30pm, or until clean-up is complete. Please come dressed appropriately for food service. This means closed-toe shoes and long pants. Please park a block away to allow our guests a shorter walking distance.

Spring Fling 2015

The Salvation Army will be hosting its annual Spring Fling event on Tuesday, March 31st from 4:30-6pm. This is a family-friendly event with activities for kids. This event will take place at our building at 1000 C Ave NW Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.

We are in need of volunteers to help with various activities such as, cookie decoration, Easter tattoos, ring toss, crafts, story time, face paining and more. Volunteers will also be needed for set-up and tear down.

Volunteers will be asked to arrive around 4:00pm to help with set-up and leave after clean-up is completed at roughly 6:30pm. Please make sure to park on the street to ensure that there is ample parking available for our guests.

While most of our activities will be held indoors, please come prepared to work in outdoor weather as well.

Mobile Feeding

Sandwich Prep

Each Friday, we need volunteers to prepare approximately 40-60 sandwiches for our mobile feeding program which delivers food to the community each Saturday morning. This project can be done alone, or in a small group of no more than three people. Volunteers will spend around 30 minutes to an hour preparing the sandwiches needed for distribution.

Please note: While the shift time listed begins at 2:30, you're welcome to complete the activity any time between 2:30 and 4:30pm (our offices close at 4:30). If you plan on coming in a bit later, simply shoot me a call or email so we can be prepared for you at the later time. If you choose to come in a bit later, please reserve the shift listed under the 2:30 time we don't double book anyone.
