Crowd Management

The Crowd Management volunteers will be positioned at strategic locations through out the ballroom with a focus on the entrance and gift area.  The Crowd Management volunteers purpose will be to manage the flow of guests in a monitored, controlled and safe fashion.  You will be identified with a yellow vest over your clothing, will work in pairs and will report to the Security and Lead Staff. Experience in security and crowd control a plus.

Decorating & Set Up

This is the day that we get everything ready for the Family Feast Day. They tables will need to be set up, serving stations, coat check, gift corner, and everything made ready for Christmas morning.

Dessert & Beverage volunteers

Make the guest feel special on Christmas Day by giving them personal service. This team of volunteers will volunteer with desserts and serve beverages that will be served at the tables. The dessert area is a great place for children to volunteer with their parents.

Floaters

The Floater position at The Christmas Family Feast is a position that fills in the areas of greatest need at the moment.  The Floaters may get the opportunity to try different positions replacing volunteers  as they take their lunch break.

Floor Staging

Assist with setup for the Christmas Family Feast day by ensuring the front gift area, volunteer area, kitchen area, ballroom, and coat area are completely set up. Volunteers should be able to lift tables, help distribute merchandise as needed.

Food Server

Friendly Visitor

These volunteers will go around to the tables and spread Christmas joy by talking with the guests and giving out the cards while they last.

Gift Corner Volunteers

Spread the Christmas Spirit by being part of the distribution of give -a -ways as guest are finished with their meal. Direction of the procedure will be given by Team Leads and key Salvation Army Staff.

Guest Greeter 1st shift

Responsibilities include: Make guests feel welcome, give directions and information


Greeter will perform the following duties:
-Welcome guests and wish them a merry Christmas!
-Inform the guest of procedures of meal, seating, take out and gift giving as requested
-Should know where all the restrooms are located
-Need to only work one shift in order to give more people a chance to volunteer

Guest Hosts

Start the guest's holiday experience by escorting them to a table where they will be treated like the honored guest they are. The guest hosts will follow the lead of the Guest Host Team Lead on when, where and how to walk them to their tables. Be ready to smile and help others enjoy this special day.

Kitchen Preparation Volunteers - DAY 1

Help make the Christmas meal one to remember for 8,000 people on Christmas Day by getting the food ready. the kitchen will need to be sanitized and ready for food preparation. Some food will need to be prepped and prepared for the day of the Feast. On 12/24 & 12/25 the food will be cooked. Volunteers are needed in 4 hour shifts to cook, prep, and get ready all of the wonderful food that will be served on Christmas Day. Cooking experience is not necessary but you will need to be 18 years or older.

Recovery Team

Spend most of the Christmas Day with your family and then bring them down to the Christmas Family Feast to help us break it down. This great team or group opporutnity would be cleaning off tables, putting supplies in their places, and generally bringing the room back to it's previous apprearance. Also, help get the food ready to for pick up for the homeless shelters in the area and clean the kitchen.

Re-Set and G-Patrol

Responsibilities: Maintain the re-set of tables for fast turnover of guests and monitor garbage for disposal. Duties to Perform: •Take direction from the Team Lead volunteer in green t-shirt •Monitor the re-set of tables process for a quick turn around time •Know where all supplies are located for table re-set •Monitor the need for garbage removal and know where it is to be taken to •Communicate with Team Lead staff of any problematic situations •Greet guests and other volunteers with Merry Christmas •Know where all restrooms are located •Treat everyone with respect

Runner

Be an important part of the Christmas Family Feast and get your exercise at the same time.  Runners will be either escorting volunteers to their proper location on the ballroom floor  or going from  the kitchen to  the food line and back to the kitchen.  This requires much walking so being physically fit is key. 

Should be able to take direction and work with a diverse population.

Spotter

Responsibilities: Identify guests that needed to be seated and direct them to open seating. Identify areas for re-set team. Duties to Perform: •Take directions from Key Lead Staff •Responsible for one section of the three section ballroom •Identify open seats for new guests and direct them to seating •Alert wait staff team to new guests arrival for immediate serving by holding “Service Needed Here” sign •Alert re-set team for reset of tables by holding “ReSet Table Here” sign •Greet guests with a Merry Christmas greeting •Treat all people with respect •Know location of restrooms •Understand volunteer break procedures

Take Out Crew

Our shoppers assist parents/guardians with choosing toys for their children and escorting them through the Toy Shop shopping floor. Must NOT be a recipient of the Toy Shop. You must be 18 years old to volunteer for the Toy Shop.

Social Workers

Help make Christmas merry for children this year by assisting with our toy distribution. Social work students will gain valuable experience directly interviewing applicants to qualify them to participate in the Holiday Toy Shop program.

Some data entry activity is involved. Final decisions on individuals' applications will be made by Salvation Army staff.

Help The Salvation Army spread Christmas joy by providing christmas gifts to children in need in the Milwaukee area.  Stock age appropriate toys on tables for distirubution. Keep table areas stocked with items, table area neat and orderly  and offer suggestions to parents as to choices of toys available. Toy shop recipients are not allowed to volunteer for this program. Does involve standing and working on a warehouse floor. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Help make Christmas Merry for over 20,000 children by playing a critical role The Salvation Army Toy Shop. Facilitate the volunteer check-in process. This may include volunteer sign-in; distribution and collection of supplies; directing volunteers to appropriate areas; thanking volunteers for their service; and communicate the Toy Shop guidelines to volunteers.

Canteen Drivers

The Driver position should be able to drive several times a year during a special activity.  The volunteer would need to pass our drivers background check and our regular background check.  Experience driving different vehicles is required.  A CDL license is a plus.
