Gold Award Mentor

Girl Scout Gold Award Mentors play an important role in supporting girls on the path to earning the Girl Scout Gold Award.  As a member you will coach, support and provide guidance to girls through the approval process and project implementation as they embark on the path towards earning this prestigious award. As a mentor you will communicate with girls for approximately 1-2 hours a month throughout the time she is completing her project. This communication is flexible and can be done in person, over the phone, via email or video chat.

Fundraising

Volunteers who work with travel groups help them with budgeting and money earning to put their plans into action.  Possibile activities include coordinating Council sponsored product sales or girl planned money earning events.

Trip Coordinator

Trip Coordinators work closely with girls to plan group outings appropriate to their developmental level. Opportunities for overnight trips, National trips or even International trips provide girls the opportunity to develop leadership skills and learn more about the world around them.

Series & Special Interest Groups

Series Volunteer

The Series Advisor is responsible for implementing and facilitating a 6-8 week Girl Scout leadership program for girls in grades K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, or 9-12 from a pre-designed curriculum. Series Volunteers assist in the implentation of the program in conjunction with the Series Advisor.

Special Interest Volunteer

Special Interest Group Volunteers facilitate programs for girls in grades K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, or 9-12 on a topic of interest to the girls and volunteers. Possible topics include healthy living, financial literacy, STEM, drama or the arts.

Technology Volunteer

Techbridge are STEM related kits, put together with the goal of getting girls interested in STEM fields; to help them see how much fun science and math can be.  It’s not just what you learn in your math class!  We are looking for volunteers interested in becoming Techbridge trainers.  We need people to train other leaders and trainers, and we need people to run the programs for the girls.  We would train you with the kits.  We are also looking for people who have careers in any of the many engineering fields, to help with the career activities in the girl programs.  We are looking for people in all of our counties.

Activity Facilitator

Work directly with girls at Girl Scout programs! Pre-determined tasks are made available including all supplies and instructions for faciltiating the activity with the girls. Orientation and training is provided as needed.

Work with other volunteers and Council staff behind the scenes to plan events. Can work on specifc event activityies or attend the day of to  set up materials, check in participants, etc.

Troop Support

Chaperones work with Troop Leaders to provide supervision of girls at Girl Scout meetings, field trips and events. Days and times vary based on troop scheduling and chaperone availability.

Driver

Troop Drivers transport girls to/from Girl Scout field trips and events. Drivers must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, proof of vehicle registration and insurance, become a member of the organization and submit to a background check.

Troop Leadership Team

Serve as a positive role model by working in partnership with girls and other adults to plan, carry out, and achieve the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Working with Adults

Administrative Volunteer

Possible opportunities include Adult Recognition Consultant, Service Unit Secretary, Troop Organizer. These administrative volunteers work behind the scenes to promote the mission of girl scouting and support other volunteers. Adult Recognition Consultants work to identify exceptional volunteers for peer recognition. Service Unit Secretary volunteers attend meetings, keep minutes, distribute agendas and some maintain email lists. Troop Organizers help plan events to recruit girls and adults to join our organization. They work to place girls into troops and work with service unit Registrars to ensure all are registered.  A Council Staff member can discuss in more detail to help you decide which one is right for you.

Adult Learning Facilitator

Facilitate quality, position specific training to adult volunteers. Work with service team members to provide enrichment training on specific topics as needed.

Current training topics include working with girls at all grade levels, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, Troop Camping, Service Unit Campouts, Journey Workshops.

Specific topics for enrichment include ceremonies, songs, games, girl scout traditions, knots, fire building, orienteering, hiking, conflict resolution, take action projects and many more.

Coach/Mentor

Mentors work with adult volunteers on specific topics such a delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience,  outdoor activities, awards, or travel.

and practices and for reporting those results to the council.
