Team Outline

Required dates:28th Nov to 7th Dec

Time Size: 12 volunteers

Work location: Outside on event campsite

 

What we do

We don’t wash the dishes or do the laundry, but we do provide the riders with self-service facilities so that they can! We’re the ones that ensure the riders are camping in style with their creature comforts provided –  readily available tea and coffee, and dishwashing and clothes washing facilities!

 

Key event tasks

  • Making sure the tea and coffee facilities are clean and well stocked
  • Setting up and packing down the washing facilities (connecting hoses and power)
  • Educate riders on how to use the equipment correctly
  • Working in teams to tow trailers from site to site

 

Requirements and Commitments

  • Ability to follow directions from the team leader
  • Great customer service
  • Ability to tow a trailer or comfortable driving a 3 tonne truck
  • Comfortable lifting heavy objects (approx. <10kg) and performing manual labour
  • Not afraid to get your hands dirty (or wet!)
  • Be available to volunteer for the full event (10 days)
  • Comfortable with camping accommodation
  • Comfortable volunteering up to 8 hours
  • Agree to attend a pre event training session

Riding Route Marshal Team

Join the Route Marshal Team on this year’s RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride!

                            

Team Outline

Required dates:28th Nov to 7th Dec

Time Size: 35 volunteers

Work location: Outside on the rider route

 

What we do

We’re the eyes and ears out on the route - we make sure the riders know where they are going, what hazards they need to avoid and how to navigate tricky intersections and turns. We ride (or are transported) to our designated spot ahead of the riders and stay there until the last rider comes through, before riding through to the next campsite.

 

Key event tasks

  • Direct riders in the correct direction
  • Alert riders to hazards that may be on the route
  • Clear any obstacles along the route that you and the riders may come across
  • Maintain regular contact with Route Control
  • Attend nightly briefings

 

Requirements and Commitments

  • Ability to follow directions from the team leader
  • A proactive approach to assisting riders
  • Assertive nature but always maintaining great customer service
  • Traffic management experience an advantage
  • Comfortable standing for long periods
  • First aid training an advantage
  • Willingness to go above  and beyond to help riders
  • Be available to volunteer for the full event (10 days)
  • Comfortable with camping accommodation and unpredictable weather
  • Self-sufficient with correct clothing – Make sure you are prepared for unpredictable weather
  • Comfortable volunteering up to 8 hours
  • Agree to attend a pre event training session
