Christmas - Toy Collection/Distribution

Angel Tree Kiosk at Haywood Mall

Volunteers are needed to staff the FOX Carolina Salvation Army Angel Tree kiosk at Haywood Mall.  This is a great opportunity for volunteers of all ages.  Manning the Angel Tree gives individuals and groups an opportunity to help the community to adopt less fortunate children.  Volunteers will provide information, help the public adopt Angels, and take in completed Angel Tree gift/toy donations.

 

The kiosk is located on the main floor of Haywood Mall in front of Sears and Forever 21.

 

Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Christmas Applicaiton Data Entry Volunteers

Application  data entry volunteers will be helping screen and enter information of people who would like to receive Christmas assistance.  You will need to arrive at least 15 minutes before your shift begins for orientation.

Christmas Center - Toy Bag Packing/Toy Sorting

The Salvation Army of Greenville County will be providing Christmas to over 4,000 children.  Volunteers are needed to help pack and sort toys

Christmas Toy Distribution

Volunteers will help Salvation Army staff ensure that each of the 1700 families receive the correct Christmas toys that were selected or purchased for them.  Volunteers use shopping carts to help take toy bags to the family car, help man the bike area, or help break down boxes.  

LOCATION: TD Convention Center

Volunteer orientation begins at 7:30 am to prepare for an 8:00 start time.  Snacks are provided and this is the most fun you've ever had volunteering!

Red Shield Classic Golf Tournament

Tee Off Monitor/Morning Flight

These volunteers will be monitoring the tees at each hole.  You will make sure that players tee off from the correct spot.  You can sign up for the morning flight (8:30AM-1:00PM), the afternoon flight (2:30PM-6:00PM), or both.  If you are interested, I will contact you with more details.

The Salvation Army provides shelter and rehabilitation programs to 150 people 365 days a week at our Main Campus at 417 Rutherford Street.  These residents often to not have appropriate coats for winter weather, which is a health concern.  We are reliant upon the community's generosity to help supply them with coats so that they may continue on their daily tasks of going to work, seeking employment, and more with the appropriate attire. 

You can help us provide this service by conducting a Coat Drive at your church, business, subdivision, school, etc.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Complete confidential and accurate client entry into web-based Homeless Management Information System.  There are numerous steps and a lot of information that needs entered and updated, which requires thinking with each entry.  There are many different aspects of this database and entering to learn.  While using this database and entering client information, a person must be willing and able to categorize information into the selections provided.  Other important qualities include being detailed, organized, and willing to ask questions.

Background Check Cleared

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Computer experience

Successful completion of the on-line Blood Borne Pathogen test.

Able to look at the computer screen for periods of time

Serve Meals in the Dining Hall

Feed a hungry individual and make a difference.  


Every day The Salvation Army is making an impact and helping Greenville County become a little better by changing one life at a time. You can help by volunteering to serve meals for homeless/hungry individuals.

The Salvation Army prepares and serves 400 - 700 meals daily and houses up to 140 individuals in three residential programs: Substance Abuse (CSRC Program) for Men; Homeless Shelter for Men; Homeless Shelter for Women & Children.


Breakfast is served from 6:00 am to 7:30 am; lunch from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and dinner from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at The Salvation Army Mary S. Davidson Dining Hall located at 417 Rutherford Street, Greenville (next to WYFF4 TV Station). 

Opportunities are available for one-time or on-going.

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club - Kroc Center

Tutoring for children who attend the Boys and Girls Club

Volunteers are to provide special educational assistance for students to be considered "at-risk."  Volunteers may also provide program services which include educational, cultural, recreational and citizenship training.

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club provides afterschool homework assistance, tutoring, and enrichment activities for students at-risk of not passing to the next grade level. Although the main goal of the program is to pass to the next grade level, the focus is for all students to excel in all areas utilizing the proven curriculum of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as well as the best practices of the Club since its inception in 1938. The following critical steps will ensure that students will progress in their educational achievements:

Grounds Beautification

The Salvation Army provides shelter and rehabilitation programs to 150 people 365 days a week at our Main Campus at 417 Rutherford Street.  With your help, we can ensure that the campus is attractive to those seeking our assistance and temporarily living in our Shelters.  

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own landscaping or yard tools.  Also, please bring gloves.  The landscaping materials will be provided by The Salvation Army or donated from a local nursery, or the volunteer group may offer to pay for these materials.

Once you sign up, you will be contacted to determine the dates, times, and size project for you or your group.
