REPORTS TO:        TABTO Volunteer Manager and/or Church Liaison

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

This position will report directly to the Volunteer Manager.  This position will require an individual to work with seniors to provide practical, direct and in home support. These individuals will support vulnerable seniors and their caregivers through friendly visiting, home repair, personal assistance, and respite services.  This position is ideal for an individual looking to engage in direct service and emotional support to senior citizens and their caregivers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. 1.    Engage seniors in a manner that enables them to receive support
  2. 2.    Attend educational trainings on the Two Are Better Than One program
  3. 3.    Provide needed services to a specific senior or caregiver. These may include assisting with cleaning, grocery shopping, small household repairs, or friendly visits, depending on the needs of the senior or caregiver.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Willingness to engage with senior citizens and caregivers receiving the TABTO services.
  2. Willingness to be flexible.
  3. Submit to and pass a criminal history check
  4. Complete an interview with TABTO managers to clarify expectations
  5. Ability to provide transportation for yourself to and from clients home.   
  6. Experience in working with seniors preferred.

Hours: The number of hours will vary. As an Adopt-a-Senior volunteer we predict 3-8 hours per month of direct service will be needed for this position.  The timing of this will depend on what works best for you and the senior and/or caregiver.

Additional Requirements: 

1.    Must be at least 18 years old.

2.    Prior to participating in this volunteer position within the TABTO team, you may be required to complete the following:

      o   Volunteer application

      o   Background Check

      o   Interviews with TABTO Volunteer Manager

      o   TABTO Volunteer Training (including Safe From Harm)

Church Liaison/Deacon

Church Liaison/Deacon

REPORTS TO:          TABTO Volunteer Manager

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

This position will report directly to the Volunteer Manager.  This position will require an individual to be the liaison between the TABTO program and his/her home church. This position is responsible for leading and organizing members of his/her congregation in all TABTO program aspects. This includes the Adopt-a-Senior and Work Days components.  This position is ideal for an individual looking to lead his/her congregation in a compassionate ministry and to provide direct service and emotional support to senior citizens/caregivers in his/her church community.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be the liaison between home church and TABTO team.
  2. Recruit and organize ministry team at home church to take on TABTO ministry.  
  3. Instruct ministry team on TABTO program components and what needs to be accomplished.
  4. Host regular ministry team meetings.
  5. Be willing to receive client referrals from TABTO team.
  6. Be present, with TABTO staff, at initial introduction meeting between client and ministry team.
  7. Organize ministry team to visit client 3-4 times per month for at least 1 hour.
  8. Organize ministry team to help meet client’s various needs throughout the year (i.e: laundry, cleaning, organizing, transportation, fellowship).
  9. Be willing to organize 3-4 Work Days per year with ministry team and additional congregation or community members.
  10. Fill out all TABTO reports, surveys and/or evaluations as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Willingness to engage with and recruit senior citizens receiving the TABTO services.
  2. Willingness to engage with and recruit volunteers participating in TABTO ministry.
  3. Willingness to hold volunteer position for at least 1 year.
  4. Ability to provide transportation for yourself to and from clients home.   
  5. Experience in working with seniors preferred.

Hours: The number of hours will vary. As the church liaison we predict 2 hours per week of administrative work. As a team we ask you spend 1 hour per week with each client referred. Work Days last for 4 hour increments and generally are conducted on Saturday’s from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Additional Requirements: 

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Prior to participating in this volunteer position within the TABTO team, you will be required to complete the following:

Work Day Site Manager

Work Day Site Manager

REPORTS TO: TABTO Volunteer Manager and/or The Church Liaison (as applicable) 

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

This position will report directly to the Volunteer Manager.  This position will require an individual to be present at Work Day events and will be responsible for leading a team of 5 to 10 individuals. The team will be conducting services such as light chores, repairs and visitation to vulnerable senior citizens and/or caregivers in the city of Chicago. This position is ideal for an individual looking to engage in direct service and emotional support to senior citizens as well as to lead and engage with fellow volunteers. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be present at work sight for the entirety of the Work Day.  
  2. Be the liaison between TABTO staff, work team and client during Work Day.
  3. Instruct work team volunteers on what needs to be accomplished.
  4. Be familiar with and follow all Site Manager Instructions provided by TABTO Volunteer Manager (separate document).  

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Willingness to engage with senior citizens/caregivers receiving the TABTO services.
  2. Willingness to engage with other volunteers participating in Work Days.
  3. Ability to provide transportation for yourself to host meeting sight and homes of TABTO program participants.  
  4. Experience in work with seniors preferred.

Hours: Work Day’s are generally held for 4 hours and can occur on Saturday’s from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Additional Requirements:

Work Day Volunteer

Work Day Volunteer

REPORTS TO: TABTO Volunteer Manager and/or The Church Liaison (as applicable) 

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

This position will report directly to the Volunteer Manager or the Church Liaison.  This position will require an individual to be present at Work Day events and will be responsible for conducting services such as light chores, repairs and visitation to vulnerable senior citizens and/or caregivers in the city of Chicago. This position is ideal for an individual looking to engage in direct service and emotional support to senior citizens. This can be a one-time event or develop into continuing service through the Adopt-a-Senior program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be present at meeting place on time in appropriate attire for the tasks of the day.
  2. Complete service as instructed by the Site Manager.
  3. Be willing to discuss problems as they arise with the Site Manager. 
  4. Report back to meeting place before leaving for the day.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Willingness to engage with senior citizens/caregivers receiving the TABTO services.
  2. Willingness to be flexible.
  3. Ability to provide transportation for yourself to host meeting sight and homes of TABTO program participants.  
  4. Experience in work with seniors preferred, but not a requirement for this position.

Hours: Work Day’s are generally held for 4 hours and can occur on Saturday’s from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Additional Requirements: 

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
