Volunteer MUSIC INSTRUCTOR Summary Description: Provide music instruction for youth ages 7-14 Goal: Help youth develop their artistic talents and abilities: Brass, Guitar, Piano, Drums, Singing, Dancing, Painting, Drawing, etc. Schedule: Tuesdays: 6:30-7pm Time Frame: Ongoing (during school year) Reports To: Corps Officer Personal Characteristics 1. Knowledge of another language is not necessary, but this position will interact with persons who are not fluent in English. 2. Work in a team setting 3. Pleasant, interpersonal, able to give clear directions/instructions 4. Proficient in a musical instrument or artistic expression 5. Behavior must be consistent with The Salvation Army Mission Statement Specific Duties: 1. Fill out volunteer application packet – including background check. 2. Complete Safe From Harm (Salvation Army training program for abuse and incident reduction) 3. Be available weekly to lead youth in music/gospel art lessons Physical Demands / Work Environment: This position at times asks for light physical work.
