Maintenance

Beautification and Maintenance Landscaper

Help keep our grounds and gardens green and healthy! We are seeking an experienced beautification and maintenance landscaper, who will be responsible for the weekly management of the grounds. Your skills must include lawn care (cutting and trimming) and edging. You'll also plant flowers, and water everything as needed.

Qualified candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. The weekly schedule is to be determined.

Janitorial Volunteer

Many people pass through our doors every day, from the single mothers who come for food from our food pantry to the teens who are in our after school program which aims to keep them off the Chicago streets. 

So many people creates wear and tear on our building, in an effort to keep it looking as good as it can for our clients we need extra people to work alongside our janitor to keep the building clean. Hours are flexible as our building is open 6 days a week from 9-4pm.

Youth Work Volunteers

Event Volunteer

Activity Summary:

Bring your friendly and cheerful personality to Temple Corps and help us during one of our holiday events!

Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Must be able to comfortably lift boxes of Flyers
  • Reliable, professional and hard working
  • Friendly and personable

Policies:

Events where the volunteer will be working with children must complete and pass a background check prior to volunteering.

Alcohol, drugs and smoking are not permitted while volunteering with The Salvation Army. Clothing must be respectful. Pants and shirts must cover the waistband. Tank tops, undershirts, halter tops, crop tops, spaghetti straps and strapless tops are not permitted. Shirts with print are not to be offensive. Transparent, tight or form fitting clothes are not permitted. Skirt/dresses must not be worn more than two inches above the knee. 

*Off Street Parking is available.*

Donut Day Fundraiser

Activity Summary:

Every year during the summer, The Salvation Army raises funds on Chicagoland's busy street corners. The two-day event is called "Donut Day," in remembrance of World War I, when The Salvation Army distributed hearty donuts and coffee to the exhausted soldiers in the trenches of the battlefields. Funds raised during "Donut Day" support The Salvation Army's many social service programs. 

We're looking for positive, upbeat, and engaging people who understand the ministry of The Salvation Army sufficiently to answer articulately the questions of prospective donors. You must be honest and able to work well with others. You must be able to stand for hours at a time.

Volunteers are needed May 30th and 31st as well as June 6th and 7th.

Qualifications:

  • Reliable, professional and hard working
  • Friendly

 Policies:
