BUG-ology Bug Lab Assistant

Are you enthusiastic, outgoing, and enjoy being part of an event? If so this position is right for you! This craft position will help assist in the set up, take down, implementation, and supervising a bug lab Station. This may include the aquatic lab (pond dipping), Worm Composting Lab, Butterfly Lab, and the Diploma Station! You will be rotated throughout the labs during your shift. Requirements: Must be 13 years or older Must have completed Police Check Must have attended a New Volunteer Orientation Session Must be energetic and enjoy interacting with the general public Comfortable working with minimal supervision

Create A Bug Craft Facilitator

Are you enthusiastic, outgoing, and enjoy being part of an event? If so this position is right for you! This craft position will help assist in the set up, take down, implementation, and supervising the Create A Bug Craft Station. You will help the guests make a take home craft made that is a BUG!! Requirements: Must be 13 years or older Must have completed Police Check Must have attended a New Volunteer Orientation Session Must be energetic and enjoy interacting with the general public Comfortable working with minimal supervision

Story Time

Story Time Volunteer

Adventure awaits! Join our story time team of volunteers and read to children and their parents at John Janzen Nature Centre. This is your opportunity to delight and captivate the young and old!

You would provide a quality story time experience for patrons to enjoy and enrich their lives through reading and creating stories together.  

Your responsibilities would be:

- Set-up and Take-down

- Read Stories

- Lead Story Creation Time

- Present any Educational Information as Outlined by    

  Volunteer Services

- Provide a Positive and Safe Atmosphere for Participants 

Requirements:

- Ability to create and maintain a positive and safe atmosphere for participants

- Interest and ability to storytelling

- Ability to carry out a program independent of supervision

- Excellent interpersonal and customer service sensitivity

- 16 years of age or older

The Benfits are:

- Develop your independent program leadership skills

- Storytelling workshops as part of your training

Time Commitment:            

 - once a week for two (2) hours for a 10 week session
