Help us create a welcoming, clean, safe, and attractive environment for everyone in the community who enters our doors!

We need a dedicated and organized individual to perform the tasks that will make our facility a place that everyone can be proud of! Responsibilities include floor maintenance, vacuuming the Chapel, emptying the trash, and decorating (in consultation with the supervisor). We'll also ask your help in keeping an eye out for bigger beautification projects that might interest a large group of volunteers.

Candidates must be 21 years of age or older, and are required to clear our criminal background check. You must be able to lift at 30 pounds. Successful candidates must complete our Safe From Harm training.

Food Pantry Greeter

The Salvation Army's Food Pantries feed hungry people all year long.

Join us in welcoming clients and directing them to the registration table, where you will check the forms that they bring. You'll also help carry food baskets to clients with limited mobility. Candidates must enjoy relating to people from diverse backgrounds. We also need your good communication skills, your strong desire to serve and help others, and your ready smile! Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Candidates must be 21 years of age or older, must be able to lift 30 pounds or more, and will be required to clear a criminal background check. Successful candidates will be required to take our Safe From Harm training.

Office Specialist

Office Specialist
Ministry Description:
The primary function of an Office Specialist is to answer the
telephone, directing calls to the appropriate area of responsibility.
There is a heavy call load with many questions to be answered; patience
and understanding are necessary. Other duties may be to write
letters, file correspondence, stuff envelopes, wrap gifts, count money,
bake cookies and other tasks as requested.

Social Services Intern

Areas Of Responsibility: Provide material assistance to Lake County, IN low income residents Conduct assessments and referrals as required for problem solving and helping clients gain self-sufficiency. Specific Functions: 1. Must sign in and out to document time spent volunteering 2. Interview and assess clients for eligibility determination for material assistance 3. Work closely with other community providers to avoid duplication of services and to maximize referral sources for clients 4. Maintain accurate and concise case records on all clients 5. Maintain accurate statistical data on all services delivered 6. Maintain weekly reports on services delivered for statistical recap 7. Work closely with the Social Services staff to ensure delivery of services 8. Accept additional assignments in client services as assigned by the Social Services Director

Volunteer Coordinator

Help us manage our most precious resource: Our volunteers! Without the support of those who donate their time and skills, it would not be possible for The Salvation Army to serve so many people in need in your community and throughout Lake County. 

If you are a dedicated, organized individual with good writing and computer skills, and if you believe wholeheartedly in volunteerism, we need you to help manage our facility's volunteers. You'll write volunteer position descriptions, coordinate volunteer schedules, collect required documentation, and manage our volunteer website and database. We'll also enlist your help in preparing refreshments and other supplies as needed, as well as coordinating transportation when necessary.

Candidates must be 21 years of age or older, and have the ability to lift 30 pounds. Candidates must clear our criminal background check and meet our Motor Vehicle Report requirements. Successful candidates must complete our Safe From Harm training.

Work will be done between the hours of 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday.

Based on the needs of the organization and the availability of the volunteer a flexible schedule can be arranged.
