The Accessibility Playologist volunteer is responsible for facilitating activities, engaging with guests, keeping exhibit spaces organized and inviting
during Accessibility events. Playologist volunteers gain hands-on experience helping children and families with disabilities engage in meaningful play-based learning. Volunteers have the opportunity to collaborate with education staff to enhance programming
designed for Access and Inclusion in the museum.
Volunteer Responsibilities for Enhanced Education Programming & Exhibit Facilitation:
Play and engage with children and their grownups with disabilities.
Manage exhibit materials and supplies and restock as necessary
Provide enthusiastic customer service to Museum guests, specifically guests attending accessibility events.
Share educational and general Museum information with Museum guests
Communicate with the Education and Exhibits staff about exhibit needs
Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be on time for all scheduled shifts; and notify supervisor if unable to attend a shift
Represent the Children’s Museum of Denver in a professional manner
Familiarity with the Museum building, operations, and staff
Have strong customer service and interpersonal skills and must treat every member and guest with respect and courtesy
Communicate effectively in noisy, crowded situations
Capable of working individually and /or part of a team
Enjoy working with children and guests of all ages and abilities
Love to play and have fun!
Physical Working Conditions and Effort
Must be able to move/sit/stand for 4 hours at a time
Must be flexible to work both indoors and outdoors during shift
Must be familiar with Museum Policies and Procedures
