General Volunteer Opportunities


  • Adult Literacy Tutor

    Adult Literacy Tutors require 8 hours of training.  The Adult Literacy Coordinator will contact you with more details.

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Book Sale
  • Computer/Technology
  • Customer Service

    Interested in helping the public in various capacities through the maintenance and expansion of library services.

  • ESL Literacy Tutor

    The volunteer will help an adult from another country improve their English speaking, reading and writing. The Literacy Service will contact you with more information.

  • Homework Help for students

    Coaching in the Homework Zones during the school year for students in 1st through 8th grades.  This program is offered at specific locations.  Training is required.  Fingerprinting is required for any Homework Coach 18 and over.

  • Local History

    This volunteer activity is exclusive to the Sacramento Room.  Training will be provided by the Archivist.

  • Outreach

    Helping the library introduce their services throughout the community at various events.  Training is required.

  • Programming

    Assisting with library programs in various capacities.  

  • Special Collections and Archives

    This volunteer activity is exclusive to the Sacramento Room.  Training will be provided by the Archivist.

  • Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

    The Teen Advisory Board is made up of teens who help create, organize and promote library activities and programs geared toward teens.
