    Youth Leadership Committee is an exciting, no-cost leadership opportunity for 14-18 year olds looking to develop their leadership skills, make a positive contribution to their community and gain experience planning special events. Committee members will attend weekly meetings & help with monthly events in the community. Hours accrued can be counted towards high school volunteering hours. FUNCTION: To provide support and extra direction for participants in programs, and to assist the Program Instructor in the set-up, running and clean up of activities. Programs may include sports, arts and crafts, science, and cooking, as well as outings once a week. RESPONSIBLE FOR: • Role modeling appropriate behaviour by maintaining the dignity and integrity of Coquitlam Parks Recreation and Culture by: • having a clean and tidy appearance • role modeling safety and appropriate behaviour • respecting facility, participants and staff; • Using appropriate language • Arriving prepared and on time to volunteer placement. • Ensuring that your volunteer hours are recorded • Respecting and maintaining the confidentiality of program participants • Assisting program participants in their recreation program when they need help • Assist with arts and crafts, science or sport activities • Providing extra support to those participants who need it • Encouraging interaction between participants and the others in their program. • Encouraging appropriate behaviour. • Actively participating in the program • Set up and clean up of activities. Bring swim suit and towel - camp may go swimming. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • enjoy working with youth • must be at least 16 years of age • must a responsible individual • MUST be able to ATTEND ENTIRE PROGRAM.
