The Salvation Army Child Care Center provides a loving, nurturing and educational environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Classrooms are divided by age. The Salvation Army Peoria Citadel (located at 2903 W. Nebraska Ave.) provides parents in need an opportunity to shop for Christmas presents for their children. Volunteers are needed to help parents shop, sort toys, and helping with the flow of traffic. Bi-lingual, Spanish speaking volunteers are a plus. A meal will be provided for volunteers working at least a four hour shift. Please park at the Newman Golf Course, 2021 W. Nebraksa Ave., and you will be shuttled to the location.

The Salvation Army Family Services Department has a Family Shelter that is located at 417 N. E. Adams in Peoria, Illinois. Bed Bath and Beyond donates items that are delivered to the Family Food Center Warehouse at said address.

The Bed Bath and Beyond Organizer is responsible for sorting through the items, organizing them, and placing them in the appropriate storage area in the Family Shelter building. Said items are then passed on to clients who are re-building their lives and need to furnish their living quarters with furniture, kitchen and bathroom appliances, linen, etc.

Safety Net Monitor Assistant

The ideal candidate will have a sensitivity to and appreciation for the condition of the homeless. The volunteer is responsible for welcoming and greeting clients who come to stay at Safety Net, an overnight emergency shelter for homeless men, located at 414 N.E. Jefferson, Peoria, IL 61603. The volunteer helps the staff by completing necessary paperwork, feeding the clients, distributing linen and blankets, answering the phone, following all confidentiality procedures, and insuring the safety and security of everyone. The hours of operation are from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven days a week and 365 days per year.

Information Technology Intern

Long-term Recovery Case Manager

The Casework Specialist interviews, determines eligibility and provides emergency assistance to disaster survivors who may have been impacted by an incident.  Emergency assistance dispensed by the Casework Specialist is often financial aid, given in the form of vouchers; gift cards or other financial mechanisms.  However, assistance may also include in-kind goods, such as clean-up kits, food boxes or other donated goods.

Casework Specialists must have excellent active listening skills and be able to interact compassionately with individuals, who often have suffered a major traumatic loss and are under significant stress.  Casework Specialists must be able to assess survivors' eligibility and need without discrimination or bias.

Also, must pass a background check and undergo Safe From Harm Training.
