Reporting to the Local History Librarian, the volunteer will assist with filing, sorting, and indexing newspaper clippings and other local history materials, and depending on the volunteer's interests and skills level, the volunteer
may also be scheduled to work at the public desk in the Local History Room to assist library users with finding books and information on Kern County history.
Reporting to the Reference Desk Librarian, the volunteer will assist library users on making the most of their electronic gadgets and setting up their devices for downloading Kern County Library eBooks. The volunteer must be
available Wednesdays 5 to 7 p.m. to man the E-Gadget Help Desk.
Reporting to the Reference Desk Librarian, the volunteer will assist learners of all ages with their math homework, or provide tips on learning specific math skills. Volunteers must either be enrolled in or have completed AP
Calculus, or possess a college degree in math, business, or any scientific discipline. The volunteer must be available Saturdays 2-4 p.m.
Reporting to the Reference Desk Librarian, the volunteer will provide one-on-one instruction to individuals on basic computer operation - mouse and keyboard - and basic Internet. Volunteers must be proficient in basic computer
operation and in the use of Internet browsers. Volunteers must be availble Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Reporting to the Branch Supervisor, the volunteer will man the Veterans Resource Center and assist veterans and their families with finding benefits information.The volunteer must know howto use the Internet and be able
to volunteer 2 hours a week during library hours.
